Dr. Fei Duan

Dr. Fei Duan is a tenured faculty in School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Dr. Duan obtained his Ph.D. degree in University of Toronto, Canada in 2005. Dr. Duan also worked as a visiting scientist in Institute of Fluid Mechanics at Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. The topics of his research cover droplet phase change dynamics, Marangoni flow, enhanced thermal management, efficient cogeneration power system, etc. In NTU, Dr. Duan has secured over 17 million Singapore dollars on research funding from the governmental agencies and industries as a principal investigator. He has advised over 28 postdoctoral fellows or research associates, 20 Ph.D. students, and 14 Master’s students. Dr. Duan has published over 190 peer-reviewed journal papers, 4 patents, 5 book chapters, and 130 conference presentations including 20 plenary lectures and keynotes. He serves as Executive Editor and Subject Editor for Applied Thermal Engineering (Elsevier, Impact Factor: 6.1), at Editorial Board for Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio, Impact Factor: 3.8) and Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer (Tech Science Press); and Editor at Large in Droplet (Willy).


Dr. Kai Luo

Dr. Kai Luo is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a member of Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe). He is also a fellow of several leading learned societies (such as IoP, IMechE, ASME, AIAA, The Combustion Institute) in his fields. He studied in the Engineering Department of Cambridge University and obtained his PhD in 1992. He conducted postdoctoral research in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Imperial College London from 1991 to 1993. He subsequently worked for Queen Mary, University of London, and became a full professor of the University of London in 2002. Between 2004 and 2013, he was Chair of Energy Systems in the University of Southampton, where he created and led a large Energy Technology Research Group, and developed highly successful MSc programmes in the energy field. He was appointed Chair of Energy Systems in UCL in 2013 and made Head of Energy and the Environment Research Division. Professor Luo has collaborated extensively with colleagues in the UK and across the world. He has supervised a large number of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, many of whom have become leaders in academia and industry. His research activities have been funded by major organisations such as the UKRI, EPSRC, the EU, the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering as well as industry. He has initiated and/or led large national and international consortia such as the UK Turbulence Consortium, the UK Consortium on Computational Combustion for Engineering Applications, the UK Consortium On Mesoscale Engineering Sciences (UKCOMES).


Dr. Marco Marengo

Prof. Marco Marengo is Distinguished Professor of Thermal Physics at the University of Pavia (Italy), internationally recognized for his research on two-phase flows, boiling and nucleation phenomena, phase-change heat transfer, microfluidics, atomization, and heat pipe technologies for both terrestrial and space applications. He received a Master’s degree in Physics (cum laude) from the University of Turin and a PhD in Energetics from the Polytechnic of Milan. He previously served as Director of the Advanced Engineering Centre and Full Professor at the University of Brighton (UK) before joining Pavia in 2023. Prof. Marengo’s work spans experimental diagnostics, numerical modelling, and theoretical characterization of interfacial and multiphase processes, with special emphasis on nucleation dynamics, bubble growth, boiling instability, and surface wettability effects on phase change. His research contributes directly to advanced cooling technologies, thermal management systems, and microgravity heat-transfer applications. He has published over 380 scientific papers (more than 160 in peer-reviewed international journals) and is inventor on 7 patents, with an h-index >45 (Scopus) and thousands of citations. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Multiphase Flow and MDPI Energies, and he is now World President of the Institute of Liquid Atomization and Spray Systems.


Dr. Shoji Mori

Dr. Shoji Mori is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kyushu University, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Kyushu University in 2003. He began his academic career as a Research Associate at Yokohama National University in 2004 and was promoted to Associate Professor there in 2007. In 2019, he returned to Kyushu University to assume his current position as Professor. His research focuses on the development of advanced thermal and electrochemical systems—particularly boiling heat transfer and water electrolysis—through the design of functional porous materials and control of gas–liquid interfacial transport.

Jader Barbosa Jr. is a Professor in the Craft and Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU), USA. Before joining LSU in 2025, he was a Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, UK, and his research spans Fluids Engineering and Thermal Sciences, with emphasis on Geoenergy Engineering, the flow and thermodynamics of multiphase and multicomponent mixtures, and emerging cooling technologies. He has authored more than 400 scientific papers in indexed journals and international conferences, co-authored four patent applications and one book, and supervised or co-supervised 60 theses and dissertations. Dr. Barbosa is President of the Assembly of World Conferences on Experimental Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Thermodynamics (ExHFT) and a member of the organizing committee of the 18th International Heat Transfer Conference (IHTC-18), to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2026. He also serves as a Journal Development Editor for Applied Thermal Engineering (Elsevier).

Dr. Yasser Mahmoudi Larimi is a Professor of Thermal Energy Engineering at the University of Manchester. Yasser has a strong international profile in clean and sustainable energy development through studying fundamentals and designs of low-carbon thermal and power systems. He chairs the UK ‘Turbulent Heat Transfer’ Special Interest Group and serve as Associate Editor for International Journal of Thermal Sciences. He has delivered over 30 invited talks at international conferences and meetings.

Dr. Alina Adriana Minea is a full professor at the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași (TUIASI), where she coordinates the Laboratory of Thermal Analysis and Nanofluids. Her academic career includes more than 200 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals and over 20 authored or co-authored books, primarily in the field of heat transfer. Her research interests cover innovative heat transfer fluids, materials engineering, and engineering physics. She has been actively involved in major international projects, such as the Nanouptake COST Action, “NanoRound,” and DocTalent4EU. Combining numerical and experimental approaches, her work focuses on developing advanced fluids and energy-efficient heat transfer enhancement techniques. She is also committed to mentoring doctoral students and supporting early-career researchers in building transferable skills. Prof. Minea contributes extensively to the scientific community as Editor of JMES (Sage) and Associate Editor of Thermal Science and Engineering Progress (Elsevier), International Journal of Thermophysics (Springer), Alexandria Engineering Journal (Elsevier), AIME (Sage), and the Journal of Science (University of Hail). She also serves on the editorial boards of Thermal Sciences, Hybrid Advances (Elsevier), and the Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer Research. Her achievements have been recognized through several awards, including the Best Reviewer distinction from Applied Energy (Elsevier) in 2013 and 2016, the Best Researcher award from TUIASI in 2016 and 2019, being included since 2020 in top 2% scientists by Elsevier.


Dr. Osama Ibrahim

Dr. Osama Ibrahim is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Kuwait University, where he has been a faculty member since 2015. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dr. Ibrahim’s research expertise spans applied thermodynamics, heat transfer, porous media, high-temperature oxidation, and clean air technologies. He has established and led multidisciplinary research programs focused on energy systems, desalination, and emissions control, and has secured funding from national and international agencies as both principal investigator and co-investigator. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Ibrahim has extensive industry experience, including serving as a cofounder, Chief Technology Officer, and Executive Vice President at RYPOS, Inc., where his work led to multiple patented technologies in diesel particulate filtration and clean exhaust systems. He is the inventor or co-inventor of several U.S. and international patents and has published widely in leading journals in energy, thermodynamics, and materials science. Dr. Ibrahim has taught a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses in thermodynamics, heat transfer, thermal/fluid design, solar energy, and power plant technology. He is an active member of professional societies such as ASME, SAE, and ASHRAE, and has received multiple honors recognizing his research, teaching, and professional contributions.


Dr. Qinlong Ren

Dr. Qinlong Ren, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), China, where he is affiliated with the Department of Thermo-Fluid Science and Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Thermo-Fluid Science and Engineering of the Ministry of Education. Dr. Ren received his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona, USA (2016), after completing a Master’s degree at the same institution. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University. After completing his graduate studies abroad, Dr. Ren joined Xi’an Jiaotong University, where he served as a lecturer before being promoted to associate professor. He leads research in several cutting-edge areas of energy science and engineering.
